Powered pole pruner
1-day Lantra CLMC 56 R
Course Description
As with general chainsaw training, powered pruner training covers a mix of maintenance and practical skills. Candidates who already hold CS30.1 (NPTC Chainsaw Maintenance Cert.) only need to be assessed on ‘on-site preparation and use of the polesaw’. For candidates without a chainsaw certificate, the first half of the course covers generic risks, safety, engine maintenance, sharpening etc. The second half of the course covers site safety, safe working distances, pre-start checks and various pruning cuts.
Powered pole pruner training and certification is a requirement of PUWER – the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations. Powered pole pruners are often referred to as polesaws.
Assessment
The assessment is divided into 2 compulsory parts:
- Part 48.1: Maintenance of the powered pole pruner
- Part 48.2: On-site preparation and basic pruning
Candidates must successfully achieve all assessment activities, unless otherwise specified.
NB. Candidates who have already achieved CS30.1 will not be required to undertake part 48.1.
