Pruning techniques (NPTC unit CS40)

Course description

The Pruning Techniques training course is run specifically for candidates who wish to take NPTC Unit CS40.

On Completion of CS40 the candidate will be able to:

  • Identify, inspect and comment upon key parts of the equipment to be used
  • Prepare the equipment for use ensuring the safety of themselves, other people and the environment
  • Comment upon the structure, condition and properties of the tree(s) to be worked upon
  • Use a chainsaw and other pruning tools whilst maintaining a working position within the crown of a tree using a rope and harness in conjunction with ground staff

Course pre-requisites

  • CS30 – Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting
  • CS31 – Felling Small Trees
  • CS38 – Climb Trees and Perform Aerial Rescue
  • CS39 – Use of Chainsaw from Rope and Harness

Assessment

The assessment contains 2 compulsory units:

Part 1: Carry out Crown Thinning
Part 2: Carry out Crown Reduction

Course fee: £210pp (plus VAT)

Maximum 4 people

10% discount is available if a client provides all 4 trainees for the course.
